Depot

The implementation of the Pirkkala-Linnainmaa tramway also includes the expansion of the current depot in Hervanta. The construction work will be done between 2025 and 2027.

Increasing tram traffic requires additional capacity for tram storage and maintenance. The depot is the home base for trams and includes office facilities for administrative, traffic and maintenance personnel.

The depot expansion includes the following:

• The storage hall will be expanded from six to nine tracks.
• Office and social facilities will be expanded.
• New storage, office and social facilities will be built for railway infrastructure maintenance (storage facilities for both rubber wheels and railway rolling stock).
• Parking capacity will be increased, including option for charging employees’ electric cars.
