One lane in each direction on Hatanpään Valtatie from week 20

Municipal infrastructure works are progressing at the southern end of Hatanpään Valtatie. In week 20, the work area will expand to the eastern side of Hatanpään Valtatie between Hatanpään Puistokuja and Vihilahdenkatu. Traffic lanes as well as pedestrian and cycling routes will be shifted to the western side of the street. At the same time, the street will operate with one lane of traffic in each direction. The changes will be implemented during the night between Monday and Tuesday, 12–13 May 2025, from 21:00 to 05:00.

Bus stops Hatanpään Vt 42 (2507), Hatanpään Vt 31 (2506), and Vihilahti (2509) and (2508) will remain in use. Due to the works, the Hatanpään Vt 42 (2507) bus stop will be relocated slightly southward. A temporary pedestrian crossing over Hatanpään Valtatie will be provided at the new bus stop location.

Earlier in 2025, several single-lane sections have already been introduced along Hatanpään Valtatie. Later in week 20, similar lane arrangements will be extended to cover the full length of Hatanpään Valtatie. Once the tramway is completed, Hatanpään Valtatie will continue to operate with one lane in each direction. Throughout the works, construction areas will mainly be on the west side of the street, with traffic lanes running along the eastern side.

Changes to pedestrian routes in the Jokikatu area

In week 20, traffic arrangements will also be updated in the city centre area. Retaining wall works will begin at the corner of the property Hatanpään Valtatie 17. As a result, pedestrian access from Hatanpään Valtatie to the west side of Jokikatu will be closed starting Monday 12 May 2025.

Access to the property at Hatanpään Valtatie 17 will remain unchanged. Access to Jokikatu will be possible via Voimakatu or Viinikanpolku. The pedestrian route will be reopened as the works progress.

Access to properties, businesses, and services in the area will be maintained throughout the construction. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the works.
