We are building a tramway to Pirkkala and Linnainmaa
The Pirkkala-Linnainmaa Alliance of Tampere Tramway constructs the new section of the Ratikka tramway towards Pirkkala and Linnainmaa. The tramway is implemented in two phases to ensure adequate state subsidisation for the entire route.
- In phase 1, during 2024–2028, we build the tramway sections from Sori Square to Partola and from Kauppi Campus to Ruotula. Construction works for phase 1 started on December 11th 2024. The aim is to start services to these temporary stops in August 2028. The first phase also includes the expansion of the tram depot in Hervanta.
- In phase 2, during 2028–2032, we will build the sections from Partola to Suuppa and from Ruotula to Linnainmaa. Tram traffic to Suuppa and Linnainmaa is scheduled to start in early 2032.
On 21 October 2024, the councils of Tampere and Pirkkala decided on the construction and phasing on the basis of options prepared by the Pirkkala-Linnainmaa Alliance.
The Pirkkala-Linnainmaa Alliance of Tampere Tramway comprises of Tampereen Raitiotie Oy, City of Tampere, Pirkkala municipality, AFRY Finland Oy, Sweco Finland Oy, NRC Group Finland Oy, and YIT Infra Oy.
